Hazardous Lighting
Hazardous locations are areas where flammable liquids, gases or vapors or combustible dusts exist in sufficient quantities to produce an explosion or fire. No other aspect of industrial safety receives more attention in the form of codes, standards, technical papers, and engineering design. Regulatory bodies like the South African Flame Proof Association (SAFA) have established systems that classify locations which exhibit potentially dangerous conditions to the degree of hazard presented. In hazardous locations, specially designed equipment and special installation techniques must be used to protect against the explosive and flammable potential of these substances. Commercial Lighting
Commercial lighting is defined as the provision of light in applications that are meant to satisfy the corporate world as opposed to individuals. This means that the whole venture is geared towards financial gain. With this in mind, target areas for commercial lighting include cinema halls, office buildings, commercial streets, business premises etc. These are areas with high human traffic. Commercial grade products have better drivers, heat sinks, led chips, and lenses, therefore they will last longer than residential grade products. Afrilite has a reputation for supplying only high end products as it is essential for both us and our customers not to have any "come backs "as this is costly for all involved.

Lighting Design
Lighting design is a field within architecture, interior design and electrical engineering that is concerned with the design of lighting systems, including natural light, electric light or both, to serve human needs. It brings light into darkened spaces, requiring consideration of the amount of functional natural light provided, the energy consumed, as well as the aesthetic impact supplied by the lighting system. Therefore, it is important that the science of light production and luminaire photometrics are balanced with the artistic application of light as a medium in our built environment. Afrilite offers a complete lighting design solution, utilizing our many years of combined experience. We aim to fulfill our customers specific needs by paying careful attention to all aspects of each individual project as each one is different. We offer a complete photometric design at no cost which includes light levels with suggestions of which fittings and lamps to use based on the client's needs

We are the sole agent for Nordland (Pty) Ltd in KZN and as such are one of the few companies that supplies Zone 1, 2, 21 & 22 light fittings. We have a good working relationship with most of the lighting manufacturers and importers in KZN, and majority of South Africa. This has given Afrilite a distinct advantage over most of the competition, as pricing and product range is extremely competitive.

HAZARDOUS AREAS – ZONE 2, 21, 22
JBP luminaire range has a GRP body, polycarbonate injection moulded lens with linear prisms, with stainless steel clips. Control gear is approved for Zone 2, 21 and 22 applications. Available in single and double 18 W, 36 W and 58 W versions. IP65.
NHP Highbay control gear housing in GRP. Suspension hooks carry the weight of the luminaire. Die cast aluminium lampholder assembly. The high purity bright anodised spun aluminium reflector incorporates a heat tempered armour plate glass carried in a silicone seal. This is spun into the reflector to form an integral unit. IP66.

NFP floodlight luminaire consists of two parts. An exterior control-gear box and a separate lampholder/ reflector compartment. The two units are assembled together to form an integral unit. Extreme temperature rises are limited by the separation of control gear and lamp. Lamps options are mercury vapour, metal halide, and high pressure sodium. IP66

N20/IP 65 luminaire range has a deep drawn stainless steel body, single piece pressed frame and stainless steel clips. The 4 mm thick lens is clear armour plate glass. Available in 18 W, 36 W and 58 W versions, and in addition T5 lamps. Lens Frame: Available in emergency configuration. IP65.
JBLT
JBLT is a range of enclosed corrosion proof luminaires, and are available in 600mm; 1200mm and 1500mm T8 LED tubes. The luminaire is dust and moisture proof, making it ideal for applications such as indoor car parks, warehouses, dry and cold storages. JBLT uses the same body and accessories as the standard JB range of luminaires.

NHL 100 - LED HIGHBAY
The NHL100 LED Highbay consist of a die-cast aluminium alloy body and is polyester epoxy powder coated, which makes it ideal for indoor and outdoor applications. This luminaire provides high energy efficiency, excellent illumination, low maintenance and long lifespan. Various mounting options include Hook, Ceiling and Wall mount. The addition of Motion and Daylight sensors allows for even further energy savings especially in areas which are less occupied. Dali dimmable gear are also available on request.

Industrial and hazardous lighting manufacturer Nordland (Pty), based in Muldersdrift, Gauteng Ltd started out in 1967 as a luminaire importer but it soon became a local manufacturer instead. Today, the company produces and exports a large range of Ex luminaires for Zones 1 and 2. Close co-operation with the SABS ensures compliance with relevant specifications and the company is a permit mark holder for its entire range of Ex lighting products. Products for non-hazardous applications comply with SANS/IEC 60598, as well as Accredited ISO 9001:2008.
N60 luminaire range has G13 lamp holders of special design to allow the use of standard bi-pin lamps and is used with an electronic control gear. Available in emergency configuration. Optional extra: Isolating switch can be incorporated on control gear rail. IP 65.
